This project promoted interactive film presentations and used the process of film-making as a method of non-formal education for young people, in the fields of anti-discrimination, social solidarity and active citizenship. It took place between February – November 2008
The core team of the project were 4 young Komunitas members, working with pupils from 3 high-schools and 2 schools in Bucharest. Some pupils were from elite educational institutions from Bucharest, but most of the school pupils were members of poor Roma families, living in the Ferentari disadvantaged neighborhood.
The idea of the project was to connect these different groups, living in different social realities, and to create solidarity among them, by involving the young people in concerted actions.
For the first 3 months of the project, we screened films and documentaries on social issues, in each of the chosen classes, and we actively discussed these social issues – that are of a general concern for the European society, such as discrimination, economic exclusion, negative stereotypes and stigmatization of the Roma and of the poor.
